Once in a Lifetime; Siem Reap, Cambodia Escapade

Next Stop: Siem Reap, Cambodia.

Note: WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHES,
BRING YOUR SHADES,
SUNBLOCK &
SPORT SHOES.

First Day:

Clear Roads, Peaceful Scenery.

Tuk-Tuk is the way to go here, put on your shades or face mask,
it's going to be a dusty ride.

Old Market - First Lunch

Simple and ala-ala Thai.
Honestly,
it's not really unique.

Bats... all the Bats.

Location: Royal Palace

Scenic.

First photo with the Squad.

First Temple.
Cambodians are extremely religious,
they truly respect and worship their gods.

Location: Pub Street

Happening at night, with pubs, restaurants, street food.

Restaurant: The Soup Dragon

The best steamboat ever,
clear savoury soup,
we added more noodles because it's cheap ;)
*eat until you explode*
We ate here twice during the trip.

Street Food: Coconut Treats - Sweet & Delicious

Mixed Fruits Smoothie.
Note: Be sure to tell them NO SUGAR.

Pancakes.
It's thin & crispy.
Love the one with banana & Nutella, and banana with honey.

Sweetness.

Not many choices tho which is a total bummer.

2nd Day:
Location: Angkor Wat

This used to be a library.

Great for pictures and to eat our breakfast
(yup, we had our bread with jam and butter here)

Bakan Pass

Yes, up there.
CLIMB CLIMB.

Rainy season - Nice & Cooling.
A good sunburn avoidance season.

Lunch: Lok Lak with Steamed Rice
It's somewhat like stir-fried beef with rice.

Location: Terrace of the Leper King

Walking towards the Elephant Terrace

Location: Elephant Terrace

Location: Royal Palace

Location: Phimeanakas Temple

Location: Thomanon Temple

Location: Bayon Temple

Huge Huge.

Mirror-ish

This is apparently the 'MUST-TAKE' photo here,
nose to nose with the face.

As you can see,
my nose can't make it.

Don't laugh.

Location: Tomb Raider Temple

Reminds you of Angelina Jolie?

Here lies the infamous golden silver tree.
It's sad to see how this place is slowly falling apart.

Location: Baphuon Temple

Location: Prasat Karvan Temple

Restaurant: Phanha Khmer

Authentic Khmer cuisine,
More vegetables, Less meat.

It was my first time consuming raw aubergines with salted beef -
I don't hate it.

Location: Bakeng Mountain

We were so excited to experience the sunset together,
however,
due to the gloomy weather,
it didn't happen.

This was the best we could do.

Day 3:

Location: Sras Srang -
The Royal Swimming Pool

Note: if you're looking for pants and t-shirts,
here's the perfect cost friendly place!

BEST PRICE.

Location: Ta Som Temple

It breaks my heart when I see kids begging for money or even candy.
It's sad that we were told not to give-in to them as most
of them are neglecting their studies to beg.

Be thankful for what you have in your life,
life may not be perfect but it's comfortable.

The long walkway to Neak Peak Temple

Location: Neak Peak Temple

Used to be a hospital where there's clear, healing water.

Location: East Mebon Temple

Pictures... Pictures... Everywhere.

Day4: The Outer Circuit

Location: Banteay Samré

Believe it or not,
we actually got lost here.

A Temple Run kind of vibe.

Location: Kbal Spean

Hiked up 1500m & down 1500m.

A place where it's said to be a source of fertility.

Stir Fried Pork with Khmer Spice & Coconut Milk

Tasted like peanut sauce.

Location: Banteay Srei aka Lady Temple

At this moment,
I started to appreciate the gloomy weather.

IT WAS TOO FREAKING HOT.
IT BURNS.

on a side note,
gorgeous preserved carvings on red sandstones.

Local Delights

INSECTS.

NO.

It was truly an honour to experience authentic, non-commercialized Cambodian delicacies.
This is where only the locals eat & we were brought here by our awesome & kind Tuk Tuk uncle that we booked for 3 days.
He is truly amazing & he'll make sure to bring you everywhere!

To contact him do follow his Facebook Page: Tuk Tuk Siem Reap Angkor

He bought us Palm fruits and Palm sugar to try.

SUPER DELICIOUS.

Cheers to a wonderful trip!

In all honesty,
the trip was extremely exhausting with loads of walking.
It's definitely a trip to go
only once in a lifetime.
